2024 RCSC Sustainable Design Challenge
About the competition

This design sprint asks you to create novel solutions to a specific design problem or challenge. The competition is limited to 20 teams of three or four UArizona undergraduate students. Registration closes on April 5, 2024.

 

Your goal

To create a solution, product, or service that solves the sustainability challenge in a way that is desirable for consumers, economically viable from a business perspective, and technologically feasible.

Five-hour sprint

You will have five hours to develop your solution and prepare a six-slide presentation.

 

Four competition rounds

Then, you will compete against other teams for the ultimate prize. As you go, you will get feedback about your work and a change to make revisions.

Get a head start

Starting on March 18th, teams can complete two exercises prior to the competition and get a head start in this competition.
●    Design Thinking exercise (earn up to 20 points)
●    How to Brainstorm exercise (earn up to 20 points)
The pre-work poin
ts will be added to the Round 1 and Round 2 scores to select the top teams.

The pre-work exercises close on April 7, 2024.
 

Massive prizes!!!

The top five teams will receive awards:

1st place: $3,000

2nd place: $1,000

3rd to 5 place: $500 for each of the remaining finalist teams

Additional prizes and awards will be awarded for outstanding efforts.

Teams

Teams must be composed of three or four University of Arizona full-time undergraduate students. The registration form requires complete names and UANet email addresses. In addition, participants will need to agree to the competition rules.

The specific design challenge will be revealed on Friday 4/12/2024 at 2:00 pm.
